Ferdinand | PoliticsGhana | April 2 | ECG releases full list of areas to be affected by 2023 ‘dumsor’

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released a power outage timetable due to scheduled maintenance work by the Ghana National Gas Company on the Atuabo gas processing plant.

The power outage schedule will begin on Wednesday, March 30th, and last until Friday, April 7th, 2023. The maintenance work will result in a shortfall of approximately 150 megawatts of power generation, which will reduce the total power supply for distribution by ECG.

According to a document obtained by GhanaWeb Business, the power outage schedule will affect the Accra, Volta, Ashanti, Eastern, Central, Western, and Tema regions of the ECG.

The regions have been subdivided into four blocs of A, B, C, and D. All areas within the region will experience outages according to a schedule that starts on March 30th and lasts until April 7th, 2023. The outages will occur at night between the hours of 6 pm and 11 pm.

The power outage schedule indicates that only areas within the A bloc will experience outages three times within the period. The other blocs will experience two rounds each per the schedule. The ECG has advised customers within the affected regions to take necessary precautions during power outages.

The statement released by the ECG reads, “We, therefore, entreat our cherished customers to bear with us while we work to improve service delivery to our customers. We assure our customers that the power supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed.”

The ECG has also assured customers that it will do its best to mitigate the effects of the power outage on its customers during the period of maintenance work. The ECG has advised customers to report any faults during the period of the power outages to enable the company to respond promptly.
