Business mogul and philanthropist, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, has donated ₵500,000 to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) to support quality healthcare delivery and improve access for underprivileged Ghanaians.
The donation, made during the official launch of the fund at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC), is one of the largest single contributions to the initiative so far. The MahamaCares fund, spearheaded by former President John Dramani Mahama, aims to provide financial support for critical health cases, especially for patients who cannot afford the high cost of medical treatment.
Alhaji Agongo, speaking at the event, commended the vision behind the fund and described it as a “bold and compassionate step” toward closing the gap in Ghana’s healthcare system. He urged other business leaders, philanthropists, and the general public to contribute generously to ensure the fund’s sustainability.
“The true strength of a nation lies in the health of its people. This is not just a donation — it’s an investment in life and hope,” he said.
Former President Mahama also expressed deep appreciation for the gesture, stating that the fund would save lives and restore dignity to families struggling with hospital bills.
The ₵500,000 donation from Alhaji Seidu Agongo is expected to support a number of urgent medical interventions in the coming months.
