The Acting Auditor-General Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu has said that he has inspected documents provided by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo, and is satisfied with the process, and has therefore proposed that the Supreme Court be informed appropriately about the development.

In a letter dated 2nd July 2020 and addressed to the Senior Minister, Mr Akuamoah Asiedu, who has just taken over from the Auditor General Yaw Domelovo, noted that he was satisfied with the inspection of the documents on the evidence of work done by Kroll Associates and that lawyers of the Senior Minister could inform the Supreme Court appropriately.

The Auditor General Yaw Domelovo, now on leave, had surcharged the Senior Minister over his failure to show evidence of work done by Kroll Associates for which they received $1million.

The matter has been a subject of litigation in the Supreme Court but this latest letter by the Acting Auditor General suggests new evidence of work done has been found for which the Senior Minister could be exonerated.

Yaw Domelovo, who has been directed by President Akufo-Addo to proceed on his accumulated leave, has alleged that he has been hounded out chiefly because of work he has done that embarrasses the government, notably his surcharging the Senior Minister over the payment of $1million to Kroll Associates without evidence of work done.

Many Ghanaians have condemned the Acting Auditor General’s perceived rush in seeking to exonerate the Senior Minister of any wrongdoing with his letter expressing satisfaction with his inspection of documents on work done by Kroll Associates.
