Contributors who fail to merge SSNIT Card with Ghana Card before December deadline will be legally forfeiting pension benefits

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) says contributors who fail to merge their SSNIT numbers with their national IDs by the end of December will be legally forfeiting their pension benefits.

SSNIT has begun integrating its ID platform with that of the National Identification Authority in compliance with a directive from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA).

Director-General of SSNIT, Dr John Ofori-Tenkorang, explains “the Trust has created avenues to simplify the process for customers and new entrants adding the integration will help fast track adjudication processes, enabling prompt settlement of claims”.

The process of merging the two identification numbers will continue until December 31, 2021.

This means that from January 1, next year, SSNIT contributors will no longer use their scheme numbers but will transact all business with SSNIT with their Ghana Card.

Kaaka’s death: 2 confirmed dead, 4 injured as security officers clash with protesting Ejura youth

Two people have been confirmed dead with four others sustaining injuries following a clash with protesting youth at Ejura in the Ashanti Region on Tuesday morning.

The youth were protesting the death of Ibrahim Mohammed also known as Macho Kaaka, who was reportedly attacked on Sunday dawn and died on Monday afternoon [June 28, 2021].

Security officers made up of the police and military have been dispatched to Ejura to maintain law and order, following an intelligence that the youth were planning to stage a protest to demand justice for Macho Kaaka.

But following a clash between the security officers and the protesting youth, shots were fired which resulted in the death of the two people while others also sustained various degrees of injuries.

The Omanhene of Ejura and his elders have since intervened to bring sanity to the town.

A statement from the police says “Calm has been restored at Ejura in the Ashanti region. We will give you certified updates as soon as we receive it.”

Why the protest

The protest by the youth followed the death of Macho Kaaka on Monday afternoon whilst receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.

Macho Kaaka was a social activist who reportedly was interested in the wellbeing of the Ejura community in the Ashanti Region where he lived.

He had been recording videos on wrongdoings and other issues in Ejura and posted them on social media with the hope that the menace will stop.

Through that, Macho became very popular in Ejura but received death threats from some people who were not happy with his activism.

Macho went ahead and posted a video announcing the death threat against him.

Arrest

Two suspects have since been picked up by the police in connection with the death of Macho, reports Graphic Online’s Kwadwo Baffoe Donkor from Kumasi.

Macho Kaaka, 45, a resident of Ejura in the Ashanti Region was reportedly attacked by some people.

He died on Monday afternoon, June 28, 2021 at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where he was receiving treatment.

The police said the suspects were arrested upon police intelligence and were currently in police custody.

They are Ibrahim Issaka also known as Anyass and Fuseini Alhassan.

They were picked on Monday night [June 28, 2021] around 10:45pm.

According to the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr Godwin Ahianyo, the suspects laid ambush in front of the house of the deceased and attacked him when he returned home on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at about 1:30am.

They reportedly inflicted machete wounds on him. Family members also found sticks at the scene of the attack.

He was first sent to the Ejura Government Hospital and was referred to KATH where he died on Monday.

Meanwhile the police have increased their presence in the Ejura township to ensure peace and safety after they quelled a protest by the youth Monday night.

Following the announcement of the death of Kaaka, the youth of the town had wanted to stage a protest to demand justice for their compatriot.

ASP Ahianyo said police investigations will dig deeper to find out if Kaaka’s attack was related to his activism and whether he was a member of the #FixTheCountry campaign as had been alleged.

Tuesday’s protest

After the failure to stage the protest on Monday, the youth succeeded to organise themselves for the protest on Tuesday morning.

It was during the attempt by the security to quell the Tuesday protest that the shots were reportedly fired and led to the death of the two and injury to the four others.

Brother’s account

The brother of Macho Kaaka, Zuka Adams in a radio interview with Accra based Citi FM said Macho Kaaka together with some other family member’s had gathered in one family members house as part of preparations for a marriage ceremony for that family member.

He said it was when Macho left the place on his way home on a motorbike that he was attacked near his house.

He said they suspected it was “political” opponents of Macho Kaaka who attacked him and added it may not necessarily be partisan opposition political party members but it could be members within his own political party – the New Patriotic Party.

He said Macho Kaaka is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ejura.

Afriyie Barnieh’s winner moves Hearts of Oak closer to league title

0

Accra Hearts of Oak’s nimble footed striker, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, turned the Accra Sports Stadium into a festive theatre when his 66th minute strike hit the back of Kotoko’s net with precision and turned the stadium into a scene of spontaneous jubilation amid brass band music.

Barnieh, who had been a constant threat to Kotoko’s defenders throughout the game, pounced on a pass from Salifu Ibrahim at the Kotoko goal area and drilled the ball home with a non-drop shot on the turn, which caught goalkeeper Kwame Baah flat-footed, giving the Kotoko shot-stopper no chance to react.

The goal came barely a minute after Hearts’ Patrick Razak missed a fine opportunity to break the deadlock, a period which brought the stadium alive after near misses by both sides in the tension-packed game.

It’s celebration time for Daniel Afriyie Barnieh (middle) and his teammates
After scoring the winning goal, Afriyie raced to his team officials on the substitutes bench, collected a jersey emblazoned with his portrait and waved it in front of animated Hearts fans who responded to the gesture by waving their flags.

The Kotoko players looked distraught after the loss, as their archrivals –- unbeaten in their last nine matches — took a three-point lead on top of the league log with three matches to the end of the season.
Barnieh’s strike could prove decisive in Hearts’ title chase as they are on the brink of ending their 11-year Premier League title drought.

Ten minutes before the game ended, the Hearts supporters started singing and dancing in the stands, confident of victory in a match largely described as the title decider.

The celebration moved into top gear as FIFA referee Daniel Laryea signalled the end of the exchanges as the Hearts players started running around the stadium, responding to cheers from their fans while their technical handlers led by head coach Samuel Boadu hugged each other for a job well done in anticipation of a long-awaited league triumph which was last achieved when they beat Sporting Mirren 2-0 in Accra to win the 2009/10 Premier League.

Hearts made their intentions to win clear moments after referee Laryea signalled both sides into action as they surged forward in search of the opener, almost scoring two minutes later when they earned two quick corner kicks.

The search for goals continued as the homesters pinned their opponents to their own half, with Razak, Barnieh and Kwadwo Obeng combining upfront but having difficulty breaking the defensive barrier formed by Mohammed Habib, Andrews Appau, Ismail Abdul Ganiyu and Christopher Nettey.

Kotoko managed to contain the Hearts menace as they made occasional counter attacks through their skipper Emmanuel Gyamfi, Fabio Gama and Evans Adomako

In the 19th minute, Kotoko managed to break loose as their attackers multiplied in the Hearts area but Richard Attah in posts for the Phobians effectively handled Patrick Asmah’s shot at goal.

Back from recess, the two sides brought in fresh legs as they continued to search for the much needed goal but it was not until the 66th minute that Barnieh responded by burying the golden opportunity which could be his most priceless goal for the Phobians.

Davido Featured In Coming To America Part 2

Davido Featured In Coming To America Part 2. Nigeria’s most celebrated act and recent winner of 3 Music African Act of the year award; Davido has been featured in America’s 2021 best comedy film “Coming 2 America”.
Like most artists, they get their songs played in the movie without being seen in it. But in the case of Davido, he did a live performance in the movie….. Not playing any other role apart from what he is good at, singing.

Davido Featured In Coming To America Part 2
He sang his song “Assurance” to usher the lost but found Crown Prince of Zamunda and his bride “Prince Lavelle and Princess Mirembe” unto the altar to be joined in union. Following the drama, Eddie Murphy known for playing many characters along side Arsenio Hall in the Coming To America movie, he did another live performance in the name of Randy Watson singing America’s favorite “Sexual Chocolate“. I believe Davido is the first to raise the bar to be featured in an American movie to perform his own song in the movie.

ABOUT THE MOVIE: Coming 2 America

Coming 2 America is a 2021 American comedy film that serves as a sequel to the 1988 film Coming to America starring Eddie Murphy. The film is directed by Craig Brewer from a screenplay by Kenya Barris, Barry W. Blaustein, and David Sheffield, and a story by Blaustein, Sheffield, and Justin Kanew, based on characters created by Murphy.[4] It stars Murphy, Arsenio Hall, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, Teyana Taylor, Wesley Snipes, and James Earl Jones.

Originally to be theatrically released by Paramount Pictures, the film’s distribution rights were sold to Amazon Studios because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Amazon released it digitally via Prime Video on March 4, 2021. Coming 2 America received mixed reviews from critics.

ABOUT THE MAIN CHARACTERS: Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall

The hilarious Brooklyn-born Eddie Murphy was writing and performing his own material by the age of 15. He did shows at his high school, youth centers, and local bars. Eventually, he got the chance to perform at The Comic Strip in Manhattan and was finally cast on Saturday Night Live in 1975. The comedian is famous for many roles in movies such as Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop, Harlem Nights, Boomerang, The Distinguished Gentleman, Vampire in Brooklyn, The Nutty Professor, Doctor Dolittle, Life, Bowfinger, Shrek, Daddy Daycare, Dreamgirls, Norbit, and Meet Dave.

Arsenio Hall, who plays Semmi, Akeem’s servant, is most famously known for his late night talk show, “The Arsenio Hall Show” during the early 90’s. Though most of his accomplishments include television appearances like “The Real Ghostbusters” in 1987, and voices on shows like “Scooby Doo,” he has also been featured in movies such as Harlem Nights.

EASTER IS ALL ABOUT THE LOVE AND SACRIFICE OF CHRIST JESUS, SAYS CHURCH OF PENTECOST PASTOR

Easter

Easter is all about the love of God as the Bible says in John 3:16 that he laid down his life for mankind due to the love he has for the world.
The death of Jesus Christ has given everyone hope beyond the grave because he holds the key of death as he is the resurrection and life.
Christians through Easter remember the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross for the sins of mankind.
These were made known by the Church of Pentecost Pastor for Official Town District- Ashiaman Area.

Rev. James McKeown Asare when he was preaching on Easter Sunday on the theme, Knowing Jesus And Experiencing The Power Of His Resurrection which was taken from Philippians 3:10 to 11. He said ,the only means to heaven is through Jesus by knowing him.

Rev. McKeown said, anyone who knows Jesus receives resurrection power which enables him or her to become a new person by overcoming sin .
The district Pastor said , as it is important for one to know God ,it is equally important for God also to know the person.
Knowing Jesus Christ is the only guarantee to heaven as his word says in John 14:6 that he is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the father except through him.

Easter
WHAT MUST ONE DO TO KNOW JESUS
Rev. James Asare McKeown said ,for one to know Jesus ,he or she must shun sin, bad life, awkward life, evil deeds and abide by Gods will as well as live a holy life.
Many people claim to know Jesus but Jesus does not know them because they do not portray good and decent behavior.

He therefore advised and urged the general public to let their knowing of Christ reflect in their daily lives through the fruit they bear which is good character and holy life so that they can enter into the kingdom of God when the time comes.

PRICES OF NOSE MASK SEES A HUGE DROP TO AS LOW AS 4 PIECES FOR 1 CEDI

Prices of nose mask sees a huge drop to as low as 4 pieces for 1 Cedi in Ashiaman market in Accra .
The wearing of nose mask became mandatory in the country due to the surge in covid-19 cases and this led to high sales and purchase on the market.
The high demand of the product further led to an increase in prices where a box containing fifty pieces of disposable nose mask was sold for thirty to forty cedis with each per being sold at one to two cedis.
There were even situations where there was shortage of colored nose mask particularly black ones as people preferred it to other colors due to its ability to absorb dirt even though it was being sold at two cedis fifty pesewas then.
Some traders at Ashiaman market who spoke to Summer News said, a box of nose mask which was selling for thirty to forty cedis came down to twenty to fifteen cedis and has further come down to as low as eight cedis and this has made them to sell it at three to four pieces for one cedi.

PRICES OF NOSE MASK SEES A HUGE DROP TO AS LOW AS 4 PIECES FOR 1 CEDI
Some complained that ,even though it is the same low patronage that led to further decrease in prices of the product, they were expecting a change in the purchase to be a bit high as the prices has come to very low level but that has not been the case.
For hand sanitizers most of them said they have stopped selling it as people do not ask of it anymore.
They explained that ,even though they want high patronage of the products , they do not wish for an increase in cases .
They would rather pray for an end to the disease so that they can go about with their normal duties and life.
Most of traders were seen with other products such as mother care products , cutlery sets ,pure water among others as a back up to support them as they said they cannot rely on the money from the sales of nose mask alone especially now that business has gone down.
They urged fellow traders to learn to add other items to what they sell so that if the sale of one declines , the other will be going on to help and sustain them in life.
Even in other works, one has to learn to do back up work so that in case of anything ,they will have something to rely on, the traders said.
